Honorable Mention Starlings M. Kathryn Black A flock of starlings settle in a field. Today stubbles of corn plants stick through tussocks of snow. If there are any seeds birds will find them; they walk with heads close to the ground. In the same way I look for winter treasure, but so far I've found only pebbles to be discarded. Neither have I wings to fly or companions to show me the way; limping, I search until early darkness. Night imprisons me under the cold stars; they do not sustain me.
